Last weekend I did a bourdoir photo- and videoshoot with JIRINA. Today I got to see the video, which is almost ready, can't wait to share it!

I decided to share these fabulous few pics I got, even though I thought this blog would be dedicated to vintage but as Im still wearing faux vintage lingerie by What Katie Did (Lulu set, which is unfortunately now discontinued). What Katie Did makes vintage inspirated lingerie, mostly 40's and 50's styles.

But why I do love vintage?

My boss asked me today why I love vintage clothes so much. To be honest, I didn’t know what to answer to her. This made me thinking about this matter. What is it which makes me love vintage clothes so much? Of course when we’re talking about 30’s, 40’s and 50’s it’s the glamour that makes to one’s mind at first. But there’s got to be something else besides just glamour which makes those clothes so special to so many, as vintage has been and still is huge and up going trend.

It is true that I have always loved history and I have always read much. Knowing these facts led me to think about escapism. Maybe I just wanted to run away from real life? But I don’t believe it’s so simple. Though yes, I have always liked little odd clothes, and as teenager used to dress in Goth clothing and I must say it was pretty easy to move from Goth to vintage enthusiastic. In my case, as I can imagine in many others’ as well, Dita von Teese was one of the biggest influences in my wardrobe as teenager. I still do love and adore her. Dita together with my favorite actress Audrey Hepburn probably started my love for vintage clothing. Getting me in vintage was probably quite easy (after I had seen that spectacular Givenchy ball gown Audrey worn at Sabrina, I still get shivers when thinking about that dress) although it took me years to actually start wearing vintage.

My very first vintage piece was 30’s velvet purse with goldthread applications. It was a gift from my cousin. She wasn’t and still isn’t into vintage more than that, but she thought I’d me delighted the purse and I was. Years after that I bought my very first 50’s dress. Pewter pink ball gown, and after that there was no going back.

The incontrovertible fact is vintage clothing has to much better quality than reproduction clothes or nowadays mainstream clothing. The tailoring, all those fabrics, needlework, everything. Patterns, cuts and design were so much better in the day few decades back in time. When a jacket fits you like a glove, then you know what every day’s glamour is about and that’s something every woman needs in her life. Well, at least I do.

I do love 30’s, 40’s and 50’s vintage clothing because that every day glamour, also known as well fitted and quality tailored clothes, make me feel more beautiful and more confident.
